Mon 30th July 2012:

In a ‘top secret’ barbershop in Glasgow’s City Centre, Zig Zag Big Band made it’s first noise.  Allon Beauvoisin, its MD counted to 4 (they all knew that maths and music were closely related and that their MD could count to 4 so their initial goal was achieved).

The band, formed of like-minded souls, seek to better themselves as musos by playing challenging, original and contemporary charts.  Think tunes & arrangements by Mingus, Horace Silver and fantastic modern composers such as Ryan Quigley (SNJO) & Scott Free (Berkelee).

On that note….arrangers and composers are encouraged to contact us and get involved – we want to perform your work !

Other than a jazz melodeon specialist the current band sections are bursting to capacity…but some of that’s just hot air…so we continually look for deps, so drop us a line if playing with us appeals to you. It’s a foot in the door…or in the band to be more correct…please read the FAQ’s section first….

As you might have sussed by now, we play & work hard, pursue the learning journey, oh yes – and play some very (Birth of the) Cool big band tunes.
